Sustainable transport
We believe in fully sustainable e-fulfilment. Now and in the future.
It seems like a contradiction: sustainable transport. After all, transport is usually done by burning fossil fuels. This causes huge CO2 emissions and has a negative impact on the environment. High consumption of fossil fuels is also harmful to human and animal health. As a result of (an increasing number of) transport movements, inner cities are silting up, traffic congestion is increasing and odor and noise pollution is increasing.
However, there are many opportunities to organize transport more sustainably and to reduce the ecological footprint! There is also increasing demand from the market for sustainable and efficient transport. Studies show that it is even possible for the transport world to be fully sustainable by 2050. For this, CO2 emissions must be reduced by 80 to 95%. In this way, the quality of life in cities can be increased through cleaner air and less noise pollution.
One of the innovation trajectories of the Living Lab Green Fulfillment is an innovation trajectory to reduce CO2 emissions. A pilot has been started on sustainable transport, through the use of technologies from innovation partner IM Efficiency. The SolarOnTop concept (a trailer integrated with solar panels) is being tested and validated in the market in order to stimulate electric transport and green trucks. Together with the insights gained from the other innovation trajectories, new insights are created to further reduce CO2 emissions through the use of new technologies.
