Sustainable delivery, it seems like a contradiction. Parcels are often delivered by trucks that burn fossil fuels. The combustion of this causes a gigantic emission of the greenhouse gas CO2. These CO2 emissions have a very large negative effect on our environment. e-Fulfillment strives for fully sustainable e-fulfilment and therefore tries to seize the opportunities that exist to make transport in the logistics sector more sustainable. Studies show that it is possible for the transport world to be fully sustainable by 2050. This is only possible if CO2 emissions are reduced by 80 to 95%.
Sustainable delivery and health
Online purchases are increasing, with the result that the number of transport movements and the consumption of fossil fuels are also increasing. This has a huge impact on human and animal health. Moreover, due to the increasing transport movements, our inner cities are silting up, traffic congestion is increasing and odor and noise pollution is increasing.
There is therefore an increasing demand from the market for sustainable and efficient transport. e-Fulfillment Hub can increase the quality of life in cities through sustainable delivery. Thanks to our intricate distribution network, we deliver with fewer kilometers and fewer CO2 emissions. In addition, we provide real-time insight into the CO2 emissions per package or order.
Innovation trajectory: sustainable transport
Within the Living Lab Green Fulfillment, one of the innovation processes that is being worked on is to stimulate sustainable transport. Together with innovation partner IM Efficiency and the use of their technologies, a pilot has been started on sustainable delivery. The SolarOnTop concept, a trailer integrated with solar panels, is being tested and validated in the market to stimulate electric transport.
