The Green Fulfillment Maturity Model is an assessment tool with which web shops and e-fulfilment companies can be assessed on the extent to which their operations are organized sustainably. This model is in fact a performance ladder that maps the current status of the sustainability competency. Here, not only is the current situation mapped out, but improvement steps are also described that can be taken to reach a higher level. For companies, the Green Fulfillment Maturity Model is a tool to be able to operate more sustainably.
To develop sustainable innovations within the e-fulfilment sector, e-Fulfillment Hub has created the Living Lab Green Fulfillment. The Living Lab is a testing ground for research and innovation in sustainable logistics, where sustainable logistics solutions are tested and developed to reduce CO2 emissions in the logistics sector. New technological and social innovations are developed in co-creation with sustainable partners, web shops, educational institutions and governments. In this way, the Living Lab contributes on the one hand to the knowledge development of sustainable e-fulfilment and on the other hand to the development, validation and implementation of innovations. Within the Maturity Model, the execution of a Lifecycle Assessment of the company’s e-fulfilment operation is a very important part. This is because the outcome of this assessment forms important input for the innovation trajectories and can lead to the formulation of new innovation trajectories. In order to give substance to the development of knowledge and innovations, work is already underway on a number of innovation processes. There are three innovation processes: the promotion of sustainable transport, the development of a CO2 emission meter and the further development of the Green Fulfillment Maturity Model.
